When and where will the conference take place?

The next NC Traffic Safety Conference will be held at the Greenville Convention Center (303 Greenville Blvd SW, Greenville, NC 27834) from Tuesday – Thursday, April 23 – 25, 2024.  Pre-conference training sessions will be offered on Monday, April 22.

Who can attend this conference?

This conference is open to the public, so anyone may attend. Sessions and program content are tailored for traffic safety stakeholders including advocates, researchers, Child Passenger Safety Technicians, law enforcement, first responders, transportation engineers and planners, judicial partners, and other traffic safety professionals.

How do I reserve a hotel room?

Booking links for the conference hotels are accessed through the conference registration website.

  • All attendees must register first to receive the booking links.
  • See below for step-by-step instructions for using the booking links.
  • All attendees must provide a credit card number to hold their room reservation.

Where do I park?

Free parking for all attendees is provided at the Greenville Convention Center and the adjacent conference hotels.

What payment options are available for registration?

The conference accepts payments by Credit Card, Check, and Purchase Order.

  • Submit Credit Card payments online through the conference registration website.
  • Mail Checks and Purchase Orders to the address provided on the registration website and in your confirmation email.
  • All payments must be received no later than Monday, April 8, 2024.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes, a limited number of scholarships are available to traffic safety stakeholders, for both individuals and agencies. The scholarship application link can be found here.

  • Scholarships cover the conference registration fee only. No travel, lodging or per diem costs are included. No cash awards will be made. Scholarship awardees are given a one-time-use discount code to enter when registering.
  • Based on demand, a limit may be placed on the number of scholarships awarded per agency. If more valid applications are received than there are available scholarships, a drawing will be conducted and applicants will be chosen randomly.

Can I earn Child Passenger Safety CEU credits at this conference?

Yes, CPS Technicians will be able to earn all 6 CEUs needed for recertification. CPS training is offered during the Pre-conference sessions on Monday, April 22.

Can I register only for a Pre-conference training session?

Yes. On the conference registration website select “Register Now” then choose the “Pre-Conference Only” registration type and follow the instructions. 

  • Pre-conference sessions are free to attend and are open only to CPS Technicians, NC law enforcement officers, and other traffic safety professionals.
  • This training is on Monday, April 22 only. Pre-conference registration does not include other conference days and activities.

Can I attend only one day of the conference at a lower cost?

No. The General Attendee and Sponsor registration fees cover all days of the conference. You are free to attend any day but there is no reduced fee available for single-day attendance.

How do I modify or cancel my hotel reservation or conference registration?

Do I need to wear my uniform at the conference?

The conference dress code is business casual. Law enforcement and first responders often wear their uniforms on the opening and closing days of the conference. If uniforms / professional dress are required for any activity, this will be indicated on the program agenda.

I am a speaker. What do I need to know?

  1. I am commuting to the conference. Do I have to pay for parking?
    • No. See above for “Where do I park?”
  2. Do speakers have to pay the registration fee?
  3. Do speakers have to pay for a hotel room?
    • Hotel room costs (room rate and tax) will be covered only for speakers traveling 35+ miles to the Greenville Convention Center. State of NC policy allows hotel per diem only for persons traveling 35+ miles from their duty station or home, whichever is less, to their final travel destination.
    • One night of a speaker’s hotel stay will be directly billed to GHSP for each day that a speaker presents. Any additional room nights (for non-presentation days) and incidental room charges will be billed to the speaker’s credit card.

My law enforcement agency is using its STEP credits to cover my attendance costs. How do I register?

Choose the ‘STEP-LEL-LECC’ link on the conference registration website and carefully follow the instructions to register and to book your hotel room. Your registration fee will be waived and your room costs (room rate and tax only) will be covered by GHSP. Please note — a credit card will be required to hold your hotel room reservation.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the HAMPTON and HILTON Booking Links:

  1. Select the booking link on your confirmation web page / email. A new page should open in your web browser.
  2. At the top of the page, note the default Check In/Out dates for the stay.
  3. Select either date to edit, as needed, and set your actual Check In/Out dates.
  4. If you have a roommate, select ‘1 Room, 1 Guest’ to add an Adult.
  5. Select ‘Update’ to save your changes. Verify ‘Your Stay’ information is correct. If not, select ‘Edit Stay’ and repeat the above steps.
  6. Scroll down and select ‘Quick Book’ for your Room type.
  7. On the next page, enter a valid payment Card number and expiration Month/Year.
  8. Under ‘Guest information’ enter your name, email address, and other contact information.
  9. If you have a roommate, select ‘Add guest names’ and enter their name.
  10. Select ‘Book Reservation’ to complete your booking.

Step-by-Step Instructions for the HOLIDAY INN Booking Link:

  1. Select the booking link on your confirmation web page / email. A new page should open in your web browser. 
  2. Near the top of the page, select ‘Change Search’ and note the default ‘Check In’ and ‘Check Out’ dates.
  3. Change the dates, as needed, to set your actual Check In/Out dates.
  4. If you have a roommate, select ‘Rooms & Guests’ to add an Adult.
  5. Select ‘SEARCH’ to save your changes.
  6. Scroll down and select your Room type.
  7. On the next page, confirm the ‘Dates’, ‘Reservation’ and ‘Room type’ information are all correct. If your information did not correctly save, repeat the above steps.
  8. Enter your name, email address, and other contact information.
  9. If you have a roommate, select ‘Additional Guests’ and enter their name.
  10. Enter a valid payment Card Number and Expiration date.
  11. Select ‘Book Reservation’ to complete your booking.
