This report communicates findings from the 2017 North Carolina Traffic Safety Culture Survey, which the Institute for Transportation Research and Education conducted in October 2017. The purposes of the survey were (1) to identify culturally-conditioned understandings of various driving behaviors and (2) to compare data from previous years and explore how traffic safety culture is changing in North Carolina.

In 2022, there were 1,575 crashes, 59 fatalities, and 825 injuries in North Carolina resulting from drugged driving (NCDOT).
