World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Each year, ITRE and the NC Families for Safe Streets host a memorial exhibit on the World Day of Remembrance to honor the lives lost on our roads and raise awareness about preventable crashes. The annual memorial exhibit features a large display of shoes to present the people killed on North Carolina roads. Visitors to the display have an opportunity to pay tribute to lost loved ones by placing a yellow flower on a pair of shoes.
