Staff across different agencies in Wilmington, including representatives from the Wilmington Urban Area MPO, began aligning projects and programming with the Vision Zero mindset in 2021. Their first step was to apply to the first-ever NC Vision Zero Leadership Institute in June of that year. Since then, the agencies have begun meeting on a regular basis to begin identifying roles and strategizing next steps for pursuing a Vision Zero strategy.
