The NC Vision Zero Safety Awards recognize individuals and organizations from North Carolina for their commitment to traffic safety.

The awards are for those who demonstrate outstanding service and dedication to accomplish Vision Zero in their community, region, or across the state of North Carolina, to eliminate traffic-related deaths and serious injuries to zero.

To nominate a person or organization for a 2025 NC Vision Zero Safety Award, please submit your nomination by April 4, 2025, using the link below.

 

2024 NC Vision Zero Safety Awardees

 

Town of Boiling Springs

won the “Hit the Ground Running” Award for making strides and keeping momentum.

 

Bergen Watterson

won the “Most Fearless Leader” Award for trailblazing work to build a dynamic team and mentor communities across NC.

 

BikeDurham

won the “Teamwork makes the dream work” Award for getting results through tireless advocacy and community building to save lives.

2023 NC Vision Zero Safety Awardees

 

Wannetta Mallette, Burlington-Graham MPO

won the “Hit the Ground Running” Award for championing and realizing a Vision Zero plan in record time.

 

Angela Berry, Charlotte DOT

won the “Most Fearless Leader” Award for trailblazing work to build a dynamic team and mentor communities across NC.

 

Greenville Traffic Safety Task Force

won the “Teamwork makes the dream work” Award for building a model for a collaborative, effective Vision Zero initiative.

 

Dr. Becky Naumann, UNC

won the “Safety Champion” Award for enthusiastic leadership to build a statewide community of support for Vision Zero in NC.
